Wendy's Picks: The Tri-Cities' Hottest Events

It seems like “wine country everything” around here—and for good reason. Washington recently rose to become the second largest wine producing state in the U.S. We have a unique advantage here in the Tri-Cities that is not widely available elsewhere—we can meet winemakers in person and walk the very vineyards where the wine is sourced.

As we Spring ramps up to Summer, here’s a selected few “can’t miss” events to pencil into your calendar.

Juneteenth Concert w/Josephine Howell & Frichette

Josephine Howell is one of those rare talents with a magical, sultry, jazzy voice that instantly lifts your spirits. As I think about “don’t miss” events, I always land on the Concert in the Vines I attended where I first heard her sing. This year you will have two chances to hear that spectacular voice:

Saturday, June 18th 7pm-10pm @ Tagaris Winery

Wrap up your day of Juneteenth celebration activities with food, drinks, and live music. The African American Community Cultural & Educational Society (AACCES) has organized this event. There is no cover charge, but reservations are required. Go early and order dinner, then stay to enjoy the show. I have my reservations!

Saturday, July 30th 6pm @ Frichette Winery

Dance to live music in the vineyard at Frichette Winery. Josephine and her band will take you on a trip down memory lane with a combination of R&B, blues, jazz, and gospel. Your ticket also includes a glass of wine and dinner. And yes, in case you were wondering, I’ve already got my ticket for this one too! I hope to see you there.

Live @ 5: Concert Series in Richland, WA

Live@5 is a free, family-friendly event held on Thursdays during summertime at the John Dam Plaza in Richland. This is a great way to spend the evening with friends or family as there are plenty of options and entertainment for both: live music on stage, food trucks, beer gardens, local vendors, and activities like face painting and bounce houses. Check out their Facebook page @TCLiveAt5 for the list of bands and special event offerings.

BroHamM Band

Friday, July 30 at John Dam Plaza

If you can’t make a Thursday evening, mark your calendar for Friday, July 30, for a concert hosted at the Plaza by AACCES. Dance to old school Motown Philly Classic Soul with the BROHAMM BAND. Food will also be available for purchase.

Harvest Festival at Chandler Reach

September 17, 2022

This winery owner found his inspiration on a trip to Italy in 1997 and set out to cultivate that experience here in Tri-Cities. Sitting at the villa overlooking 42 acres of vineyards feels as though you are spending the afternoon at a premier winery in Tuscany. His passion for creating these experiences is really showcased in their fall Harvest Festival. It is an evening of celebration with wine, food, barrel tastings, and a grape stomp competition complete with music and a lot of laughter.
